Kinley is the school winner and county runner up in conservation art contest.

Congratulations to all of our students who won awards during the 2024 Conservation Writing and Jim Claypool Art Contest sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau, Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts and the Kentucky Division of Conservation.  The county contest is sponsored by the Harlan County Conservation District.

The theme for the contest was “Protecting the Forest Together.”

Green Hills Elementary student Kadence Ray won not only the county art contest, but earned top honors for the state Area 9 region. This is a very nice honor. She will be honored in Frankfort soon. As a result of her work, she  receives three cash prizes – one for first place at the school, first place in the county, and first in Area 9.

The county runner up for art was Kinley Middleton of Black Mountain.  She will receive a check for being the school winner and for being county runner up.

Black Mountain students winning in the contest are:

Kinley Middleton, County Runner Up, first

Carter Burkhart, second

Hunter Buell, third
