Area 9 Jim Claypool Art contest winner Kadence Ray

Congratulations to all of our students who won awards during the 2024 Conservation Writing and Jim Claypool Art Contest sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau, Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts and the Kentucky Division of Conservation.  The county contest is sponsored by the Harlan County Conservation District.

The theme for the contest was “Protecting the Forest Together.”

Green Hills Elementary student Kadence Ray won the county art contest and earned top honors for the state Area 9 region. This is a very nice honor. She will be honored in Frankfort soon. As a result of her work, she  receives three cash prizes – one for first place at the school, first place in the county, and first in Area 9.

Superintendent Brent Roark said he was excited for all of the district’s winners. He commended Ray for advancing to be selected as the top entry for the state’s Area 9 region.
