• Veterans Day program today at 9:00am in the auditorium.
• There will be a Pep Rally today, 7th Period in gym.
• Football: Tonight, our HC Black Bears take on the Wayne County Cardinals here at Coal Miners Memorial Stadium in the first round of the KHSAA State Playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm
• HCHS Black Bear Players will be performing "A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare for the public Friday at 7:00pm! Tickets will be sold at the door for three dollars.
• All new beta club members need to swing by room 225 to sign a paper before next Tuesday.
• The CTE Department is working with Funds2Org on a shoe drive. We are asking the people bring in shoes, sandals, boots, cleats, anything but roller skates to donate. Our department will then bag the shoes and they will be picked up from the school before Christmas Break.
All these donations will be sent to under-privileged countries. The shoes that need repairs will be mended and the shoes will be donated to inspiring entrepreneurs in those countries to sell.

Ms. Herrero hails from Barcelona, Spain, and brings a rich linguistic and cultural background to her role as Communications Coordinator. With a dual bachelor's/master's degree in Hispanic Philology and a Research-Based Master's in Language and Literature Didactics from the University of Barcelona, Ms. Herrero brings over eighteen years of experience in Spanish and French in middle and high schools.

• Congratulations to our Girls Cross Country Team for placing fourth in the Class AA State Championship. That is three straight top FOUR finishes at the state meet.
• Harlan County Boys placed 13th in the Class AA State Cross Country Championship. They've placed in the top 15 for the last 6 years!
• Our Cheerleaders are State bound as well after this weekend’s Regional Competition
• The HCHS Academic Team took 3rd place overall in JV Challenge this
weekend with several placing in their tested areas.

• Talent Search is taking a field trip to Alice Lloyd on 10/30 and to the University of the Cumberland’s 11/11, stop by the Talent Search office to get permission slips.
• Talent Search Seniors that wish to receive their graduation stole must participate in Talent Search’s Canned Food Drive that is open now until November 20th.
• Beta Club dues are $20 and due October 31 to Mrs. Bowling in room 225, or Ms. Collett in room 319, in between classes. If students have any questions they can stop by room 225. Beta Club: Students must pay dues every year.
• The HCHS Book Store is open from 8:00am-3:00pm. Students can only purchase smart snacks from 12:00pm-2:45pm

• Senior T-shirts are on sale now for $20 dollars. If you are a senior and have not gotten to sign your signature please see Maddi Middleton.
• NHS NEW AND OLD MEMBERS- TEN BOXES OF MAC N CHEESE ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2025 IF YOU HAVEN’T TURNED THEM IN.
